• One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000.
• Five (5) finalists will have their stories published online.
• The best twenty five (25) texts (including those of the 5 finalists) will be published by Blue Metropolis in a digital book.
• Write a fantasy story set in your community, using at least one real historical event or character as a jumping off point.
• Submissions must be 1 to 3 pages long (between 450 and 1350 words). Stories exceeding the maximum word length will be disqualified.
• Every submission must include a title and the author’s name.
The instruction guide will provide the participants with more details about the rules of the contest.

Designed for students in Secondary III, IV and V, this writing contest is about horror stories or magical worlds where vampires mingle with werewolves, ghosts or angels – fantasy and the supernatural.
In order to pass on the desire for reading and writing to the next generation, Blue Metropolis invites young people aged 14 to 16 from Anglophone communities in Canada to tell us a story of fiction or fantasy set in their community.

A jury willl select the five finalist texts that will be published on the Blue Metropolis website. The public will then be invited to vote for the best text, the Grand Prize Winner. In addition, the jury will choose 20 honourable mentions that will be published by Blue Metropolis in a digital book, to be launched at the Festival.
Participants and the general public will be invited to attend an event at the 14th Blue Metropolis Literary Festival with a famous writer of fantasy who will present the award to the winner of the online vote.
