5 Reasons to donate

1. To help sustain a multilingual literary festival with an international reputation, held in Montreal.

Blue Metropolis Festival is unique! Where else can you find, under one roof, authors and festival goers who get to experience their love of literature in English and French, as well as in Arabic, Italian and Spanish, and often at bilingual events?

2. To join the effort to prevent young people from dropping out of school and to help them escape poverty.

For years, Blue Metropolis has been working to promote reading, not only to develop the imaginations of passionate young readers and to encourage linguistic duality, but also to keep young people from dropping out of school, which can lead to social isolation and poverty. Over the years, we have reached out to more than 16,000 young people in classrooms across Canada.

3. To help young people at risk.

Through new digital platforms and using the power of words, we are working to counter anorexia, bullying, suicide and homophobia. Learn more about our platforms at bluemetropolis.org/breakingdownbarriers

4. To bring down intercultural barriers.

A number of the Festival’s activities favour cultural inclusion. Among those activities are ALMEMAR, a new magazine that gives voice to young authors and journalists in the Jewish community, and the 2013 Festival’s African Literature track.

5. Because giving leads to health and happiness!

In his essay The Art of Being Kind, Swedish author and oncologist Dr. Stephan Einhorn points to several studies which have shown that being generous leads to greater satisfaction and a longer life.
